Ishkhan Zakaryan – Chairman of the WC PAG since 2011

Ishkhan S. Zakaryan was born օn November 21, 1961, in the village of Zovashen, Ararat province.

1979- Graduated from Byuravan High School with a gold medal.

1984- Graduated from the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University(YSU), historian.

1984 – 1989 – Yerevan city Department of the association “Gitelik” (Knowledge), organizer of lectures.

1989 – 1990 – Secretary of the Spandaryan District Committee of Yerevan LCYU
(Lenin Communist Youth Union).

1990 – 1993 – Deputy Chairman of the Youth Union of Armenia.

1993-1995 – Deputy Head on Youth Affairs of the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Youth Affairs adjunct to the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

Since 1994 member of the “Yerkrapah Volunteers Union” NGO.

1995 – 1999 – Member of the National Assembly. Member of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly. Non- partisan.

1997 – 2003 – Deputy Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

2000 – 2004 – President of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia.

2003 – 2007 – Chairman of the National Committee of Physical Education and Sports adjunct to the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

May 12, 2007 – November 6, 2007 – Member of the National Assembly
June 07, 2007 – November 06, 2007 – Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly.

2007 – 2017 – Chairman of the Control Chamber of the Republic of Armenia.

April 2, 2017 – 2018 – Member of the National Assembly.

Awards Received:

Awarded the first rate Medal “For Services to Fatherland” (2011) and second rate Medal “For Services to Fatherland” (2015), and “Movses Khorenatsi” Medal (2003).

 “Vachagan Pious” (2011, NKR) Medal and  “St. Mesrop Mashtots” (2019, NKR) Order.

 Gratitude Award of the Association of the National Olympic Committee, ANOC Order of Honor.

Since 2011 up to present is the Chairman of the World Committee of Pan-Armenian Games.

 

Ashot Melik-Shahnazaryan – WC PAG 1st Chairman 1997-2003

 Armenian diplomat, writer, born in 1931.

 Graduated from the Faculty of International Law of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and Higher Diplomatic School.

1960-1992, worked in the Central Office of the USSR Foreign Ministry, in the USSR Embassies of different countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Since the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Armenia he has been an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN Department of Europe in Geneva, Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

He was the Vice President of the Contemporary Pentathlon Federation of the former USSR, Deputy Director of Press Center of XXII Olympic Games in Moscow, International Fencing Referee, President of the National Fencing Federation.

Author of the historical novel “Varazdat Olympian from Armenia”.

In 1997 he was the first chairman of the World Committee of Pan-Armenian Games. The first Pan-Armenian Games (1999) and the Second (2001) were held in Yerevan under the chairmanship of Melik-Shahnazaryan. Melik-Shahnazaryan has been actively involved in the creation and formation of the NKR MFA, as well as in the Karabakh conflict settlement process.

 

Vardan Oskanian / 2003-2008

 Born on February 7, 1954, in Aleppo (Syrian Arab Republic).

1979- Graduated from the Architecture Faculty of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute after Karl Marx.

1984 – Faculty of Engineering, Tufts University, Boston.

1992 – Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Boston.

1992-1993 worked in the Middle East Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RA.

1993-1994 – Deputy Foreign Minister of RA.

1997-1998 – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of RA.

1998-2008-Foreign Minister of RA.

 

Armen Grigorian / 2008-2011

Born in 1961. February 1, in Yerevan. Graduated from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Education. Master of sports of international class.

1998-2003 – Head of Sport Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.

2003-2007 – Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Physical Culture and Sport under the RA Government.

2007-2010 – Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

1999 – President of the Armenian Fencing Federation.

2001-2010 – Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia.

Awarded with the “Hrant Shahinyan” Medal of the National Olympic Committee (2006), with the “Award of Gratitude” from the National Olympic Committee Associations.
